About Us

Blue Door is a Class B General contractor specializing in the design, fabrication, restoration, and installation of architectural details. We also leverage our experience in restoration and our local trade network to service historical building owners as maintenance and construction management contractors. Our in shop capabilities allow us to do superior restoration work as well as produce the highest quality reproductions. Our other shop capabilities include custom furniture and a small line of in house products.

Robert Shabb

Robert Started the shop in 2017 after nearly a decade in the custom manufacturing trades and has worked closely with both commercial and residential clients. Rob’s experiences range from fine furniture, metal working and finishing to almost all the construction trades which helps the team bring detail to every aspect of the project. 

Ryan O'Connor

Ryan joined Blue Door in 2019 with experience managing projects for commercial real estate interests. Ryan takes the lead on business development, estimating, project management, and client communication. A jack of all trades, he brings many things to the table, but above all is dedicated to absolute satisfaction from our clients.

 

Conor Donachie

In 2021 Conor moved to Winchester in a major pandemic life shift, leaving his job as Emmy award winning producer with the MLB network. Since then he has picked up almost every shop skill thrown his way with ease. In the shop and onsite Conor brings a streamlined work ethic and a serious sense of design. Conor also heads Blue Doors social media presence. 

Uma & Willie

Uma and Willie keep it real in the shop. When it’s too hot in the summer and it’s time to swim down in the spring, they let us know. When we’ve been working too long without a walk around the farm for some squirrel chasing, they let us know. When there is a mouse in the bag of M&M’s… they do not let us know. Guess they think they’re funny.

The Shop

The Shop is a 2700 sq ft renovated tractor barn located in Frederick County, Virginia. Back when we started the renovations in 2017, there were piles of junk everywhere. Since then, we have slowly and consistently bolstered our manufacturing capabilities, including: a full wood shop, full metal shop, finishing spray booth and office. We want to provide our customers with the highest quality products without having to search far and wide.
